It can be so totally overwhelming when you have big goals you want to achieve, but they seem so far far far away. The mountain you must climb to achieve it feels like it is insurmountable. The path you must take littered with jungles to trek through. The fears you must overcome so scary and unbeatable. like dragons and witches and evil goblins...
It all sounds quite 'Fairy Tale'...
1. It is a fairy tale and it is one you are writing.
The truth is, it is a 'Fairy Tale' and one that you are in control of writing. I've realized this just last night as I write in my journal, as I do every evening (a practice I highly recommend on many levels).
I'm writing my life story - my fairy tale - and at the moment it reads like I'm in the middle of a really really really scary situation.
2. You get to pick the destination.
From a really young age I knew what I wanted from my life. I knew the destination was there waiting for me to arrive! It has been there since I was born and every step I've taken in my life has gotten me closer.
But this doesn't mean that self-doubt, fear, doing what 'I should be doing', and everything else doesn't get in the way and throw you massively off track.
3. You determine just how scary it is.
Despite the destination, despite the excitement, despite the prospect of riches, royalty and true love - the thickness of the jungle seems impenetrable and I can hear the cackle of witch nearby and I still have to scale the steepest of embankments...
But honestly, it is up to me whether I get scared and stay in fear or whether I choose to just keep going anyway.
4. You decide if you want to give up or take a different route.
At any time we can choose to hear the cackle as simply a bird singing, to find the clearing in the jungle and to take the express lift to the top of the mountain. All of those options are there for us and we all have the capability to get ourselves out of bad situations by creating a good one.
"If you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." Anon
Every time we give in to our fears we give those fears more power over us. But every time we face them, they get smaller. Sometimes we take the wrong road to get to our destination - that is part of the growth process. But that doesn't mean we should give up altogether - simply take a different road or pave the way for a new one to be built.
Giving up completely will just end in you living in the jungle forever.
5. Fairy Godmothers do exist.
Although you are the one who has to write your own story, you are never on your own. There are people all over the world that are going through what you are going through, and working toward the destination you are working toward. And not too surprisingly, there are people already there who want you to come and join the party.
Don't be afraid to talk to other people, ask for help and research success stories - other people's fairy tales should serve as an inspiration that you too can reach your Fairy Tale land.
And of course, the big Fairy Godmother we all should all believe in - the power and energy of The Universe is calling you toward your destination. Listen to what it is telling you, ask for what you desire, and keep taking action toward your dreams because The Universe is tuned in to you.
What Fairy Tale are you writing for your life? Is it going the way you want it to? Each day ask yourself, what will I do today that is worthy of writing in my story?
