How amazing would it be to get out of the shower every morning and know exactly what you are going to wear?!
No stress, no tearing things out of the wardrobe, no hunting through piles of clothes for that one elusive perfect thing to put on, no moment of "OMG I have nothing to wear!!!"
Instead, you slip into that skirt you always feel amazing in. Get out that bright coloured top that makes your eyes shine. Put on those shoes that you feel like a goddess in. And add the accessories that show your bubbly personality and make you smile.
Ahhhh..... sounds like bliss hey?
The magical capsule wardrobe that you only read about in magazines. Where 10 items of clothing turn into 30 different outfits. The holy grail of fashionistas everywhere.
How do we get this wonderous freedom?! (without spending a fortune in one shop, or resigning ourselves to basic black, white and grey colour palette....)
It's actually pretty easy, but it takes time. Time worth investing to really own your unique personal style and leave the house feeling like a rock star everyday. No matter where you are going...
Many a capsule wardrobe suggested by stylists focuses on Minimalist design and classic styles. (This is not to be confused with the 'Minimalist Lifestyle Principles' of 'less stuff adds more to your life'.)
But I know and believe that building yourself a small wardrobe of only items and outfits you love - gives you endless scope for MAXIMISING your unique personal style. E.G. not homogenisation, but Exclamation!!
So, why build your own Capsule Wardrobe? Well, on top of everything else I've already mentioned above, the most important thing is to reclaim who you are.
Many women are living in the Dark Ages of their wardrobes - they are slaves to fashion. Now if you don't keep up with the lastest trends, this doesn't exclude you at all. In fact there are three types of fashion slaves as outlined below.
1. The Trend Focused Fox - "I must have the latest outfits as soon as they come off of the runway!" This Fox buys every thing new and always wants to be in the latest trends. She shops up a storm for instant gratification. She wants to stand out and be noticed and is horrified if someone is wearing the same outfit as her.
2. The Outwardly Focused Fox - "I can't wear the same thing I wore last time, what will people think!" This Fox buys a new outfit for every occasion. She worries what other people will think of her if she wears the same thing too many times. She wants to look good, but wants to fit in with her peers and receive their approval. She has a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear.
3. The Hidden Fox - "I don't care about fashion, so I'll just hide here in my comfortable clothes and hope that no-one notices me." The most common of Foxes, she has given up on being a Fox 1 or Fox 2 and has settled for anonymity and no effort. She will buy clothes only when she has too, and will not invest time or money in anything special or different. She struggles to find anything in her wardrobe that she feels good in.
If you identify with any of the above, are you happy living this way?
If you genuinely are, thank you for reading this far, but I have nothing more for you. Enjoy your tortured fashion slave life, I hear the Dark Ages was a brilliant time to be a woman. Heehee 😉
You're not fooling me Foxy.
