Monday Mini-spiration: Closet Clean-out!
Don't Monday's freak the be-jeezsus out of you?!
One moment it is Friday evening and you are happily sipping on a glass of wine (or gulping, depending on the preceding week's events) and then suddenly, it is Sunday evening and you realise - I haven't gotten anything done this weekend!!! EEEEKKKK!!!
Well, who said it was the weekend that had to be filled with 'Things to do'? Let's make this week interesting instead and get one big goal achieved by working on it a little at a time.
At the beginning of each year, I enjoy doing a bit of a house clean-out (especially now that me and My Love are moving to Bali for 12 months - excited much?!!) and I always start with the easiest task - a closet clean-out!
I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to hoard clothes, because I love them and find it hard to let go! The last 12 months, I've realised what a problem this is for me however and I've embarked on a Minimalist Mindset, inspired by a free seminar I attended featuring The Minimalists. (I'll tell you more about this some other time because this is a Mini-post!)
Well, need I say more - it has freaking transformed the way I not only try to keep my wardrobe under control - but it has totally changed the way I shop. For now though, all you need to know is that below is a fabulous info-graphic from Stitch Fix that encapsulates the Minimalist mindset for cleaning out your closet so perfectly, I just had to share it with you.
My advice to get it done this week: spend 30 minutes every night this week going through each item in your wardrobe, one at a time. Begin with one drawer and work your way through a quarter each night - result: one amazingly cleaned out closet by Friday night!
I totally love the accompanying article they wrote to go with this info-graphic, but I found that one thing very important was missing...
What if you want to make a little money from your unwanted items?
If you find anything in your closet that is too good to donate, put it in a separate pile for now, because you might be able to sell them. I'll tell you all about my experiences with selling off my unwanted but beautiful clothing in my blog post on Thursday, but for now - it's time to go through your closet and give it a good clean-out!!
