Man! This week has flown past! With an extra long weekend and a trip to Melbourne to see my awesome family (haven't see the photos? then follow me on Instagram!) I'm totally behind on YOU, my lovely Foxes. Family is first here at Fox Park, but not just blood family and 'My Love' - YOU are also my family!!
Wow! I can't believe the moment is here! I'm so excited for you and that we can do this together!! It is time to get into the nitty gritty of discovering how you can cut your wardrobe in half and have more to wear. Woohoo!!
Your Unique Style Code
For me, it really started when I recognised what my unique style code was. Knowing what this was made it easy for me to shop for just those things, not get distracted in shopping malls and find the retailers (thrift or high-street) that cater just for me!
What am I talking about? It is all about realising what you love to wear and what you feel great in. Easy huh?!
You might be thinking - I just love jeans and a top - how is that unique? But it is more than just the simple garments of jeans and a top - it goes a lot deeper than that.
You need to begin with the clothes and then go deeper into how you want to think, how you want to feel, and what impression you want to give people - these questions need to be answered because you are really building your 'work costumes', 'play costumes', and 'workout costumes'. If you are not sure what I'm talking about - catch up here on my previous posts.
So, let's get started - pull out a notebook and pen, and work through the below questions to discover your Unique Style Code!
1. What clothes/garments do you love to wear?
It might be jeans and a t-shirt, skirts and a tank top, leggings and a cardigan - have a look at your current wardrobe, and think about what you have always wanted to buy/find and add them to the list.
I found I loved wearing dresses. And shorts with a long top. This is really my summer look. For winter, I add leggings and a coat. And one random pair of jeans!
Your current wardrobe might not be anything like what you really want to be wearing - if this is the case, jump on Pinterest and start yourself a My Dream Wardrobe Board - search your favorite stores or within Pinterest for clothes that make you swoon - you can check out My Dream Wardrobe here.
2. What occasions do you need clothes for?
Do you go into the office everyday? Are you home with kids? Are you in a creative environment? Do you go to the gym? Strictly relax on the weekends? Go to evening events at least once a month?
I work from home, but I still like to put on clothes that I feel good in - my Creative Entrepreneur Costume, which lucky me just so happens to overlap with my weekend costume quite nicely! Then I have Important Meeting/Event Costume, Gardening/Dirty Work Costume, Beach Costume, and Zumba/Gym Costume. Something I can wear for everything I might need to do in my life right now.
Now not everything will be able to match back into one perfect capsule wardrobe, but it is good at this point to recognize what you ideally need outfits for.
3. How do you want to feel in your clothes?
This may be different for each of your 'Costumes'. Do you want to feel: Comfortable? Stylish? Confident? Trendy? Sporty? Relaxed? Feminine? Goddess-like? Ethical? Thrifty?
For me, in all of my 'costumes' I want to feel Confident, Creative, Feminine & Unique.
This is all about YOU. How you want to feel when you wear your outfits - not what you want other people to think of you - that is the next step!
4. What energy do you want to exude? What first impression do you want other people to have of you?
These are very much to same thing. When people meet you for the first time it is your energy through your body language, what you say, and how you look that sets the tone for what people think of you. This can be very hard to change if you get it wrong!
What energy do you want to exude through your 'costume' when you meet someone for the very first time?
This is very much like describing your personal 'branding'. I hate that word for a human - but I'm afraid it is true! Another way to think of this therefore may be - what key words describe the brand of YOU?
As an example, mine are Vivacious & Inspiring. I've had clients say some awesome words like Panache, Flair, Cheery and Sophisticated - there is no right or wrong here.
We are the only one who can see our 'brand' image in our eyes, so don't worry what anyone else might say about your chosen words - it just has to mean something to you. We can work on amplifying this later so other people see it too.
= Your Unique Style Code
That's it! This is all we need to know to go forward and begin working on creating your capsule wardrobe (of course there's tons more, but I can't give away all of my trade secrets in one blog post!!).
So to finish off - state boldly to yourself:
I feel (question 3) in my clothing!
I am a (question 4) Fox!
OWN IT Foxy! You are one hell of a uniquely rocking woman!
